Fear Not

Don’t fear, because I am with you;
don’t be afraid, for I am your God.

 I will strengthen you,

 I will surely help you;

 I will hold you with my righteous strong hand.

                                    Isaiah 41:10

Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things.

The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions:

could have,

might have,

& should have.

Hello from the KCenter!

You made it through the first week of school and have gotten all your syllabi. Now is when the fun begins, eh? Papers, quizzes, tests, readings, labs, group projects . . . not to mention all of the opportunities you have to explore things outside of classes. Everything from joining a club sport to doing an internship to auditioning for a play, and that’s just the beginning. With so many opportunities the start of a term can be pretty overwhelming. I know the news of last week only added to the stress for many of you. I encourage you to take a moment. Stop. Take a deep breath. Maybe do that a few times. Now look at your calendar and find a time when you can do something that ISN’T on your syllabi. It is easy to get overwhelmed and even afraid when you have so much to do and then the news around you is filled with sadness. By connecting with others we can share what is going on in your heads and hearts and find ways to move forward together.

It is our prayer for YOU that this term you will take the time to try some new things, meet some new people and in so doing take care of your whole self. It is easy to let the fear of a new thing keep you from taking that chance, going to that meeting, inviting someone to go on a hike with our, or trying out a different way of expressing yourself. But it is through relationships and experiences that you will learn and grow and discover, just as much as you will in your studies. We believe God has much to teach us in and through one another, so don’t be afraid to try, to say hello, to look up from your phone and smile at someone new. And remember, we are here if you need or want a non-judgmental place to unwind, vent, have a cup of tea or find a moment of peace in the chaos.
