Jennifer Martin, Campus Minister
The Reverend Jennifer Martin, Campus Minister at the Koinonia Center, loves living in the Pacific Northwest and working with college students. You can often find her hanging out with students at the KCenter or a local coffee house (where she’s happy to buy you a cup of coffee or tea). She moved to Eugene in 2006 from Texas where she served as the chaplain of a Presbyterian camp and conference center. Jennifer has a B.A. from Austin College in Sherman, TX, and her M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. She is a minister of the Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA). She spent the 2015 Spring Term on sabbatical walking the Camino de Santiago. She’d be happy to visit with you about that adventure or anything else you want to chat about!
I am a senior here at the University of Oregon. I am an International Studies major with a focus in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and a Spanish minor. I grew up in Portland attending First Presbyterian Church and Valley Community Presbyterian Church. I have been a long time active member in the PC(USA) going to youth group, serving on mission trips, and attending Triennium. I have been attending The Koinionia Center as a UO student and have really enjoyed my time here! I love to read, watch movies, run, volunteer, and hang out with dogs!

KCenter Mission: As a Reformed, progressive and inclusive ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Koinonia Center at The University of Oregon in Eugene offers Christian hospitality and community, providing opportunities for students and community members to learn, serve, and worship together. The Koinonia Center is a place where diversity of thought, faith, and practice is honored and where food for the body, mind, and spirit is given. ALL are welcome here!
Reformed (with a capital “R”): this is the school of theology to which our supporting denomination and churches adhere. It had its beginnings in the 16th century religious movement known as the Protestant Reformation. Some of the big names in Reformed theology are: John Calvin, Martin Bucer, Heinrich Bullinger, Huldrych Zwingli and more recently Karl Barth.
Progressive: the Koinonia Center strives to empower students to be the body of Christ in the world today. We hope to do that by encouraging each person to think deeply about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, both historically and in our current context; to use our minds as well as our hearts as we seek to claim the name “Christian”. For some thoughts by leading scholars on what it means to be a Progressive Christian, check out the videos here:
Inclusive: At the K-Center we welcome everyone who wishes to join us. We believe each person is an important part of this community. So no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
